This story is shared by Spot & Dot's dad (IG @dodo_and_dotdot).
The moment the leash comes out, Spot and Dot start spinning circles by the front door — these two want to be outside every day of the year, and their favorite route is a hiking trail on Elephant Mountain (Xiangshan), in Taipei, Taiwan. Summers here get humid, and once the winter monsoon rolls in it turns cold and wet fast — for two fluffy Giant Poodles, a layer that doesn't get in the way matters more than almost anything else.
Before We Head Out
Getting them dressed used to be the part I dreaded most — they're two big, lovable poodles with a lot of coat, and putting anything on them usually took a while. With the PETT2GO Ultralight Windbreaker, though, it only takes a few movements to get them zipped in, barely any wriggling or dodging, and they're already waiting by the door by the time I'm done. Those extra few minutes are just enough for one more sip of coffee.
Quick to Zip, Ready for Rain
It sprinkled on and off up on the mountain a couple of times, and the water-resistant fabric handled it without any fuss — no need to call off the walk over a little rain. Put it on ,zip it up and they're both dressed before I know it.
On the Trail
Further up the trail, where the stairs start climbing, Spot and Dot somehow didn't slow down at all — if anything, they chased each other around more than usual, tongues out, tails going. The one-piece cut leaves enough room through the shoulders and legs that you'd never guess they were wearing anything extra.
I hadn't paid much attention to the reflective trim until one evening when we came down later than planned and the light dropped faster than I expected — that's when I noticed how clearly the strip across their backs showed up in low light. Parts of the Xiangshan trail are dim even before dusk, so that extra visibility turned out to matter more than I'd given it credit for.
Back Home
Curly coats pick up leaves and trail debris fast, especially once they start diving into the underbrush or running around. With the windbreaker on, taking it off at the door leaves them noticeably cleaner underneath, and it cuts down a lot on the grooming time afterward — anyone with a curly-coated dog will know exactly what I mean.
Dark Olive wasn't even a deliberate color choice on my part, but it turned out better than expected — other dog owners on the trail keep asking where I got it. At this point, my honest verdict is simple: I love it, and so do Spot and Dot.
